David Ornstein has revealed the feeling within the Arsenal camp about Jorginho joining them from Chelsea today.

According to The Athletic’s lead journalist, Mikel Arteta’s squad are enthusiastic about the imminent arrival of the midfielder from Stamford Bridge.

In one of the surprise twists of transfer deadline day, Jorginho is set to sign for the Gunners in a deal worth around £12m.

The 31-year-old was allowed to leave Chelsea after over half a decade of service, that included winning the Europa League, Champions League and Club World Cup.

He will now instead help Arsenal push on for the Premier League title and potentially glory in Europe.

His switch across the capital may have raised a few eyebrows, but it’s certainly encouraged those already stationed at the Colney training complex.

“The word I’m hearing from inside Arsenal is quite a lot of excitement among the players and staff about a very experienced player,” explained Ornstein.

Jorginho will provide a wealth of experience to an extremely young team that is still flourishing under Arteta.

Whilst he might not be able to cover the ground like before, his footballing brain gives him the edge over opponents.

This transaction has come at a perfect time for Arsenal, as they look to plug the gap left by two injured midfielders.

Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are currently side-lined, meaning Jorginho might walk straight into the XI.
