Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed on Twitter that there is a genuine chance that Chelsea move to try and sign Moises Caicedo this month.
The Blues have been strongly linked with a move for a midfielder in January, although their efforts so far have fallen short.
There was a big effort as soon as the window opened to secure a deal for Enzo Fernandez off the back of his breakout tournament at the World Cup.

He picked up the young player of the tournament award, although Chelsea didn’t believe they should pay the release clause that Benfica were holding out for.
It has since been claimed that the club were beginning to shift their priorities to other targets in that position, with Caicedo being at the top of the list.
Chelsea could move for Caicedo
Jacobs has now claimed that despite Brighton’s desire to not lose a big player in January, there is an acceptance that the opportunity may come this month.
He said: “More on Moises Caicedo. A real possibility Chelsea move.
“Brighton CEO Paul Barber told me no offers received to date, and Brighton don’t want any high-profile January outgoings, but added he “understands” if opportunities arise. Caicedo firmly on Chelsea’s radar, as revealed in December.”

There is a desire to strengthen in midfield after there is a growing acceptance at the club that they will lose Jorginho at the end of the season.
The Italy international has a contract that expires at the end of the campaign, in a similar style to N’golo Kante.
However, there is reported confidence now that the Frenchman will extend his stay at Stamford Bridge. Nevertheless, his injury problems over the last few years still leave the club needing to invest in the position to not fall behind.
