Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Chelsea are going to launch a bid this week for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.
He told ‘The Done Deal Show’ that there are likely to not be any issues with coming to an agreement over personal terms ahead of the deal.
The Blues have established Caicedo as their number one target to bring in to bolster their midfield this summer.
It has been reported that he is also Mauricio Pochettino’s first choice for a player to partner Enzo Fernandez going forward at Stamford Bridge.
Despite everyone at the club being very impressed by the World Cup winner since he joined, they want to get even more out of him by signing a new midfield partner.
It seems the Ecuadorian’s impressive season at Brighton has encouraged the Blues to go for him, with Jacobs saying the move could now be launched this week.
Chelsea launching bid for Caicedo this week
He said: “With Chelsea they are pushing and Caicedo can be termed the top target at the moment. It is going to become a circus I imagine over the next week or two as we get a lot of games and reports over different fees and prices.
“All sides in terms of prices have told me that £70 million plus £10 million is the marker, and Chelsea obviously agree with that.
“I think this week Chelsea will move. The personal terms are pretty close with Caicedo, I would expect that to be the simplest part of the deal.
“He doesn’t mind joining Chelsea without European football. And then in terms of complications, Manchester United there is not much in it, they have had a historical interest but it’s very telling that the Caicedo interest got pushed by Manchester United sources at around about midnight and the following day after the Mount bid got rejected, so there is an element of games here.”
With other clubs reportedly launching their interest in the young midfielder, Chelsea need to move quick in order to bring him in.
