TalkSPORT’s Danny Murphy has claimed Chelsea need to sign Robert Lewandowski if they are to pose a threat to Manchester City and Liverpool this season.
The striker has publicly requested to leave Bayern Munich this summer, with Barcelona reported to be at the top of his list for potential suitors.

However, financial woes have seen Xavi’s side struggle to secure any paid transfers so far this summer, with them still yet to announce the signing of Raphinha despite his snub of the Blues.
Their hesitation over Lewandowski could see Chelsea make a move, with the exit of Romelu Lukaku leaving a massive void in the number nine role at Stamford Bridge.
Armando Broja is a player who could believe he can break into Thomas Tuchel’s plans for next season, following a breakthrough loan spell with Southampton last season.

Chelsea urged to sign Lewandowski
While Murphy believes the 20-year-old has shown he has potential, he believes Lewandowski is the calibre of player the Blues need to challenge for the league title.
He said: “He [Broja] is very direct, good feet for a big man, hungry, he looks like a proper centre forward. He puts himself about, he gets in there but his link ups decent. I’d be amazed if he’s not somewhere else.”
When asked if academy graduate could be an immediate starter for the Blues, he said: “I think he could possibly be in the future, but I think if they want to try win the league, they need to go big. Lewandowski big.”

Having just made Raheem Sterling their highest paid player following his imminent summer switch, they may have to replace him with the Poland international, with him currently earning £329,000 a week with the German champions.
While it may seem unlikely, if the Blues are to add a striker there isn’t a better option than Lewandowski, with him still having a couple more years before his game will regress.
However, Tuchel is believed to not be keen on a move for Cristiano Ronaldo, instead preferring players of the Sterling mould. This could mean he is also against a move for the 33-year-old, as he looks to bridge the gap to the top of the table.
