Steve Nicol suggests Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski would rather move elsewhere than sign for Chelsea this summer.
The future of Bayern attacker Lewandowski is a hot topic for debate as he enters the final year of his contract, especially since he’s publicly voiced his desire to move away from Munich.
It’s been reported Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have both made approaches to sign the 33-year-old star. Barcelona are getting ready with a new offer for the Poland international, though.
The goal machine scored 35 goals in 34 league games last season during Bayern’s run to the Bundesliga title, as well as 13 in 10 Champions League appearances.

Lewandowski to Chelsea?
ESPN pundit Nicol thinks Lewandowski would be more likely to seek a transfer to Barcelona than Chelsea.
He highlights the uncertainty around Stamford Bridge right now regarding the current playing squad. Also, he reckons there’s less chance of winning silverware next season for the Blues.
“[For Lewandowski] to go to Chelsea is going to be a lot more demanding physically,” Nicol told ESPN.
“The players around him are not going to be as good. What are the chances of them winning the league? They are way, way behind Liverpool and [Manchester] City.
“They’ve got a lot of signings to be made in this window. They don’t even know who they’re going to get yet, so why would you join a team that’s in a little bit of a limbo as far as being at the top of the tree?
“I think if Lewandowski is given a choice, I think the obvious one is Barcelona.”

Hunt for trophies
It feels like Chelsea need a marquee signing like Lewandowski to show their rivals they’re right in the mix for silverware next season.
A lot of Blues supporters are frustrated about rival clubs getting off to strong starts in the transfer window. Meanwhile, the Blues are yet to make their first signing.
It’s obvious Thomas Tuchel’s squad needs at least two or three new faces to be competitive next year, but fans should allow patience as the dust settles on the takeover saga.
