Chelsea’s pursuit of Morgan Rogers may not have to wait until after the World Cup, after an update from England manager Thomas Tuchel.
Morgan Rogers‘ presence with the England squad at the 2026 World Cup has added a fascinating layer to Chelsea’s summer transfer plans.
The Aston Villa forward has been target for the Blues for a long time now, and his recent rise has only strengthened their opinion on him. However, pushing a deal over the line while he is away in North America may present logistical hurdles.
Historically, major transfers involving tournament players are incredibly difficult to finalise mid-competition, as international managers strictly prohibit agent meetings and medicals.
However, Thomas Tuchel is about to do Chelsea and his other suitors a favour.

Thomas Tuchel to allow transfers during the World Cup
Thomas Tuchel says England stars will be allowed to complete transfers during the World Cup, including the likes of Elliot Anderson and Morgan Rogers (as per Craig Hope).
“If anyone has the chance to complete a transfer, we will not stand in the way, but it has to align with our schedule and our goals, which is to be focused and prepare for matches. The last day before the match & the second last day, not.
“Until now, no player approached me. The doctor is ready to take any medical if needed! We are always happy to help to have clarity around the player.”

Morgan Rogers may want to keep his options open
Chelsea needs to act with absolute urgency if they want to secure Morgan Rogers’s signature this summer, but they face a delicate balancing act.
The hierarchy is determined to push hard for the Aston Villa forward, yet there is the issue of potentially unsettling him while he is away representing England on the world stage.
Compounding the issue is the fierce competition, with suitors like Manchester United circling, and worst of all for the Blues, reports strongly indicate that Rogers has already given the thumbs up to Arsenal as his preferred destination.
