Chelsea are planning to hold talks with Conor Gallagher over his future at Stamford Bridge.

That is according to a report from The Daily Mail.

They explain that Chelsea are preparing to sit down with Conor Gallagher, 23, to discuss his future.

It is understood that co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital want to avoid their players entering the final two years of their contract, which is a situation Gallagher finds himself in with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2025.

Therefore, the report says that they’re preparing to hold conversations with the Blues midfielder to work out the best next step.

The Mail’s report mentions that Chelsea are happy with Gallagher’s current form in Chelsea colours.

However, it also references the fact that there was uncertainty over the 23-year-old’s future a couple of months ago in the summer transfer window. In fact, there was late interest when Tottenham and West Ham made a £40million move for him.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see the outcome of these imminent talks.

If you’re judging Gallagher solely off this season so far, it seems like a no-brainer to sort him a new contract.

The Chelsea midfielder has been one of the most consistent performers since Mauricio Pochettino took charge as head coach in the summer, even wearing the captain’s armband on a few occasions.

Our one concern would be does he gets into the Blues starting line-up when everyone’s fit and available?

Journalist Rudy Galetti recently told ‘The Insider’ that Spurs could end up making a move to sign Gallagher in the January transfer window.

It would be great to get some clarity on the England international’s future before January comes around.
