Tottenham are now looking at Chelsea target Folarin Balogun as the north Londoners attempt to replace Harry Kane.

That is according to the Daily Mail.

So, what is the latest on Chelsea target Folarin Balogun? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – according to Football Transfers – Chelsea have spoken to the United States international as Mauricio Pochettino aims to bring another new striker to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have already signed Nicolas Jackson in a £32m deal from Villarreal, but with Romelu Lukaku not involved in the Argentine’s plans this season, another frontman is wanted.

Now – however – Chelsea could miss out on Balogun to Tottenham.

The Daily Mail believe Spurs have identified the Arsenal wonderkid as someone capable of replacing Kane in N17.

As you may have heard, the England international has moved to Bayern Munich in a deal worth £86.4m.

The Daily Mail add that Lukaku is another striker on Tottenham’s radar, while Mehdi Taremi of Porto is also being looked at.

Balogun put his name up in lights while on loan at Reims in the 2022/23 campaign, scoring 22 goals in all competitions.

According to Ben Jacobs, the American’s stunning form has caused Arsenal to put a £45m price tag on his head, a value the 22-year-old actually wants to be lowered as he aims to leave.

Chelsea could use Tottenham to sign Balogun and also offload Lukaku

The ideal scenario here for Chelsea is that Spurs take the unpopular Lukaku off their hands, and then Pochettino uses the funds to sign Balogun or another striker.

So far this summer, Chelsea have found it very difficult to offload the Belgian.

Lukaku seemed set to rejoin Inter Milan before the Italian giants pulled the plug on a deal, while Juventus have also began to lose interest after their fans stormed the pitch to demand the 30-year-old is not signed.

The Belgium international is also refusing to join a Saudi Arabian side, so Tottenham could be the only way for Chelsea to get rid of the problematic striker.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Chelsea desperately try to get Lukaku and his £350,000-a-week wages off the salary bill.
