Chelsea could now have a problem on their hands as Thomas Tuchel makes Declan Rice one of his top targets at Bayern Munich.

That is according to Florian Plettenburg of Sky Germany.

With that update in mind, let’s take a look at the details involving Bayern Munich and Declan Rice as Thomas Tuchel aims to disrupt Mauricio Pochettino’s plans this summer.

What’s the story?

Well, Plettenburg believes Bayern Munich could even pay the full asking price demanded by West Ham, which the Daily Mail claim is set at the £100m mark.

The update comes after 90min revealed that Pochettino really wants Chelsea to sign Rice this summer.

West Ham’s No.41 only has 12 months remaining on his contract at the London Stadium – albeit with the option of another year – and the general feeling is that he will leave east London after the UEFA Europa Conference League final.

Plettenburg adds that “poker” has begun as Bayern Munich attempt to sign Rice.

However, negotiations are not at an advanced stage yet, and it remains to be seen what the England international’s preference will be.

Chelsea have other problems in Declan Rice pursuit

In our view, it is Arsenal – not Bayern Munich – who pose the biggest threat to Chelsea in the race to sign Rice this summer.

Ian Abrahams of talkSPORT has already boldly claimed that the 24-year-old is “going to Arsenal” this summer, with The Times stating that Mikel Arteta has been given permission to spend heavily on a move for the West Ham captain.

With the Gunners also able to offer Rice Champions League football next season – a competition he has openly expressed his desire to play in – we feel Arsenal pose the greatest threat to Chelsea in this particular transfer battle.

Having said that, anything could happen this summer, so be sure to keep an eye on the situation.
