Fabrizio Romano revealed that Thomas Tuchel would be delighted if Chelsea signed Juventus forward Federico Chiesa.
Speaking on his own podcast, Romano exposed Tuchel’s admiration for Chiesa, even if those in power at Stamford Bridge have not made a move yet.
The Italian international is being closely watched by Europe’s big boys and could cause a transfer storm over the summer.
He has been amongst Juve’s best performers since arriving at the club last October.
In his first season with the Old Lady, the 24-year-old scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists.
Chiesa is on a trio of goals and assists this term but may have to wait until after Christmas to improve this tally following a thigh injury.
Far off Federico
With the attacker side-lined, some of his interested suitors might want to hold off a bid until the end of the campaign.
One of those potentially being Chelsea, who reportedly tried and failed to sign the Serie A star shortly after the European Championships.
However, despite Tuchel’s interest, Romano wanted to terminate any talk of Chiesa joining the Blues in the New Year.
“The rumours start because we know that Thomas Tuchel loves this player,” said the ‘Here We Go’ specialist.
“He thinks Chiesa is one of the best wingers in the game. He is a modern player, so Tuchel would love to have Chiesa at Chelsea and this is something true.
“But, Juventus are not planning to sell Chiesa. Juventus are not speaking with Chelsea.
“People close to Chiesa are not speaking to Chelsea. So, as of today, there is nothing.”
Chiesa not main concern right now
This may dampen the mood of some Chelsea supporters, who have previously made their feelings known about recruiting Chiesa.
Yet, the need to land another offensive player is not a priority.
Based on the current predicament of the squad, a few more reinforcements in other areas of the field could be handy.
Tuchel said in his press conference ahead of tonight’s Premier League game against Watford that Jorginho, Reece James and Timo Werner were all doubts.
This adds to the mounting injury list, that currently includes N’Golo Kante, Ben Chilwell and Mateo Kovacic.
Chiesa can be put on the back burner for now, whilst Chelsea revive their walking wounded.
