Piers Morgan has taken to Twitter after hearing a fresh rumour coming from Chelsea about Kai Havertz and Arsenal.
As you may have already heard, the Germany international has told Chelsea he wants to leave – according to the Guardian.
So, what is the latest on Kai Havertz at Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the Gunners have made a new £60m bid for the Chelsea No.29 as Mikel Arteta aims to strengthen his attack.
Fabrizio Romano has added on Twitter that Arsenal have already agreed a five-year contract with Havertz, and hope to get a deal finalised this week as Chelsea hold out for £65m.
In response to the reliable Italian journalist’s update, Morgan wrote: “Am I the only Arsenal fan underwhelmed by this news? Why does Arteta think under-performing Chelsea stars are the missing link to our Title chances?”
The 58-year-old does not seem to be a fan of Havertz, to say the least.
Morgan’s comments come after the 24-year-old scored just seven goals in 35 Premier League appearances last season as Chelsea finished 12th in England’s top-flight.
Therefore, you can understand why Morgan feels apprehensive about Arsenal spending around £60m on Havertz.
Chelsea have done well out of Havertz deal
In our view, it would be fantastic business by Chelsea to get £65m for Havertz.
The Blues initially spent £71m on the German, and he has partly repaid that fee by famously scoring the goal which won Chelsea the UEFA Champions League in 2021.

Of course, Havertz hasn’t really built on that moment, scoring only seven goals last season, which is why Chelsea can consider £65m – just a £6m loss on their initial investment – to be excellent business.
If that sum is now reinvested into a striker who suits Mauricio Pochettino’s style of play more effectively, it would be a fine bit of recruitment work from the Blues.
