Chelsea target Adrien Rabiot could reportedly leave Juventus on a free transfer.

Rabiot, 27, is a highly-rated midfielder that’s currently out of contract with Juventus at the end of the season.

He’s been an important player for the Serie A club with five goals in 17 games so far this campaign, but is his time in Italy now coming to an end?

Rabiot could leave on a free

Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano now says there’s a “very good chance” Rabiot does exit Juventus on a free transfer in 2023.

Also, he names the Premier League as a potential destination for the France international.

“They have to get rid of some players with high salaries. Adrien Rabiot is a really complicated one for Juventus to extend his contract and there is a very good chance for him to leave on a free and try the Premier League experience,” Romano said on the House of Champions podcast.

Chelsea speculation

90min claimed in December that Chelsea have been in regular contact with Rabiot’s representatives to discuss a potential transfer to Stamford Bridge. They said there’s rival Premier League interest from Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham as well.

When he’s fit and firing, Rabiot is a fantastic central midfielder that can perform at the highest level.

The combative left-footer brings a great balance in the centre of the park with his aggression on and off the ball.

A free transfer should make this potential transfer very attractive to interested buyers, with top English sides in the race to get him.

For Chelsea, the midfield position may need at least a couple of new recruits this calendar year.
