Journalist Dean Jones has claimed to GiveMeSport that Romelu Lukaku would be more than open to making his time away from Chelsea permanent.

The Belgian is currently on loan at Inter Milan, after forcing his way away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

The temporary move has certainly not gone to plan for Lukaku. Injuries have plagued what he will have been hoping had been a dream homecoming in Milan.

The lack of match fitness certainly played a part in his World Cup campaign with Belgium.

After not being fit enough to start for the Red Devils in Qatar, he was presented a plethora of massive chances to send his nation through against Croatia. He was unable to convert any.

Lukaku hoping for permanent exit

Despite the underwhelming season so far, Jones has claimed that Lukaku is super happy in Italy, and would love to make his stay there permanent should the opportunity arise.

He said: “He really enjoys his life in Italy. He sees the league as almost perfect for him, particularly at this stage of his career.

“If this can work out in a way that means he does end up staying in Serie A, then he would probably be very open to it.”

While Graham Potter has been keen to offer all of his players a chance to impress at Stamford Bridge, it is unlikely that Lukaku will ever play for the Blues again.

In what was supposed to be a sensational return 18 months ago, it has turned into a nightmare that Chelsea fans will be hoping to forget instantly.

With the Blues reportedly close to signing Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig, it appears they are looking to inject a breath of fresh air into their attack, which doesn’t include the polarizing figure that is Lukaku.
