Roberto De Zerbi has been speaking about Moises Caicedo – after the Chelsea target sat out Brighton’s draw against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.

The Italian was in a bullish mood when asked about the Ecuador international.

So, what did Roberto De Zerbi say about Chelsea target Moises Caicedo? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the 44-year-old sounds a bit fed up with this transfer saga now.

As quoted by Sky Sports, De Zerbi said: “If Moises leaves we will find another important player. If Moises stays, I’ll be happy for us, the team. It’s not my problem now.”

Brighton claimed that Caicedo was suffering with a hamstring injury.

However – according to the hugely reliable Fabrizio Romano – the South American made himself absent from the 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano after sending a “clear message” to Brighton. Sell me to Chelsea.

Now – according to the Guardian – Chelsea are preparing a new bid for Caicedo.

It comes after the Blues already saw four bids rejected for the 21-year-old’s signature, which were worth £60m, £65m, £70m and £80m.

Caicedo to Chelsea feels like it’s edging closer

De Zerbi’s use of the phrase “not my problem now” suggests he has had enough of Caicedo, and it feels like Chelsea might finally be about to sign their No.1 target.

The Brighton No.25 has continuously made himself clear about his desire to leave the Amex Stadium this summer – Sussex World even believe he told the club’s fans at a recent awards evening all about his keenness to depart.

Should this next bid from Chelsea meet Brighton’s £100m asking price – or even come within £5m of that – we now think the Seagulls will accept the offer.

After a draining saga stretching throughout the entire summer, it feels like a conclusion is now upon us – be sure to keep an eye on the situation.
