‘We’ll see’: Chelsea’s ‘primary target’ speaks about potential summer transfer

Napoli ace Victor Osimhen has commented on transfer interest from European top clubs, reportedly including from Chelsea, amid his exceptional form.

The 24-year-old is without a doubt one of the most in-form strikers in Europe at the moment.

He has already scored 19 goals from 20 starts in all competitions for Napoli this season, with seven of them in his last six appearances.

Such form has inevitably generated a lot of interest from other clubs, including Chelsea who have reportedly made him their primary summer target despite his reported €150million (£132m) price tag.

But would Osimhen be interested in leaving Napoli, who are currently leading the Serie A table by 15 points, considering how well they are doing currently?

The striker is flattered by the interest but also insisted that he will let Napoli make the decision.

“When you are doing so well, the best clubs around the world are watching you, especially in the top five leagues,” the Nigeria international told ESPN (via Calciomercato).

“And being able to attract the interest of these top clubs shows that I’m doing great and gives me the motivation to do even more for myself and my team.

“But I am focused on Napoli at the moment, and they have the final word. I just want to help my team win games and win trophies.

“At the end of the season, we’ll see what happens, but it’s not up to me. It’s up to the club to decide.”

Considering Chelsea’s poor goalscoring form, it makes sense if they are in the market for a new number nine this summer.

But Chelsea are almost certainly not the only club interested in the player, too.

After Romelu Lukaku’s disastrous transfer in 2021, many fans would also have reservations about whether Osimhen could replicate his goalscoring form in the Premier League.
