Chelsea’s interest in Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo did not last very long.
On Tuesday, it emerged that Chelsea were weighing up a move for Semenyo, who is having another strong season at the Vitality Stadium.
However, later in the day, multiple outlets reported that the Blues were not going to follow up their enquiry with an official bid for the 25-year-old.
SCENARIO: You are one of Chelsea’s sporting directors and Todd Boehly has given you £60m to spend in January. Who are you signing?
Chelsea signed Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens in the summer, while Estevao Willian also joined the club, making their interest in Semenyo a bit of a surprise.

Chelsea will continue to monitor other attackers in 2026
Despite the arrivals of Garnacho, Gittens and Estevao, Chelsea could still sign another attacker in 2026 after considering Semenyo.
According to The Athletic, after deciding not to make a move for the Ghana international, Chelsea will continue to monitor other attacking options next year.
While the Club World Cup winners may be looking at offensive players, bringing in a new midfielder seems to be their priority.
Chelsea could still sign a new attacker after cooling their interest in Antoine Semenyo. Who would you target, or are you content with Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens?
Journalist Matt Law recently revealed that Chelsea could sign another midfielder because of Reece James.
The Chelsea captain is a right-back by trade but has had to play in the engine room lately because of injuries and suspension. It appears that the club are not keen for that to be a long-term solution.
All in all, while Semenyo is no longer an option for the Conference League holders, they could still end up buying another attacker as well as a midfielder.

Chelsea should have made Antoine Semenyo move
Chelsea have invested a lot of money in Garnacho and Gittens, two young players with high ceilings. They should be prioritising their development.
However, for whatever reason, the club seem interested in signing a new attacker. Considering that, then, they should have made a move for Semenyo.
Right now, the Bournemouth star is one of the best wide men in the Premier League. This season, he has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 16 appearances.
Semenyo is also very versatile, capable of playing in most positions in the frontline. Manchester City will be delighted if they manage to snap him up, with the Citizens thought to be leading the race for his signature.
