Real Madrid have been linked with Chelsea defender Reece James for a while now, and it looks like they could have an opportunity to sign him in the summer.
Reece James is easily one of Chelsea‘s best players and is also club captain. However, his future has been a topic of discussion over the last few days.
The right-back is a member of Mauricio Pochettino‘s squad who the Blues would consider selling if a big offer came in for him, according to journalist Simon Phillips.
No Chelsea supporter will want to see James go, but the club now find themselves in a position where they may have to offload some players because of profit and sustainability rules.
Conor Gallagher also looks like he could be sold as his contract continues to run down.

What Real Madrid like about Reece James
One potential destination for James this summer could be Real Madrid.
According to SportsLens, the Spanish club have been tracking the 24-year-old as they look for a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.
James is a talented full-back, and he has two attributes that Real Madrid really admire.
SportsLens’ report claims that Los Blancos scouts have been really impressed with the Chelsea captain’s pace and power.
Unfortunately, they have not been things that Pochettino has been able to utilise this season because of all of his injuries.
Reece James’ shirt number
Since breaking into Chelsea’s first team, James has worn the 24 shirt, which has previously been held by the likes of Gary Cahill and Shaun Wright-Phillips.
Not only is James now a first-team regular, but he is also club captain following Cesar Azpilicueta’s departure last summer.
Chelsea’s No.24 has become such an important player; the club would be mad to sell him this summer.
His injury record may make it tempting if Real Madrid or another outfit make a big offer for the England international. However, it is worth waiting to see how he recovers from his hamstring operation and whether he can now stay fit.
