Mauricio Pochettino has now told Chelsea’s recruitment team that he feels a bit more experience is needed in the attacking department.

That is according to the Independent.

So, who could Mauricio Pochettino add to the frontline at Chelsea this summer? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Argentine is said to be wary of how inexperienced his attack is at Stamford Bridge, something Chelsea’s recruitment team are said to sympathise with him over.

As a result, Pochettino and his team have spoken about moves for Juventus No.9 Dusan Vlahovic and Roma No.21 Paulo Dybala as the Blues aim to inject a bit of seniority into the frontline.

Chelsea’s new club policy is to hoover up the best young talent from across Europe, an approach which has already seen the 22-year-old Nicolas Jackson arrive from Villarreal this summer.

However, Pochettino feels that balance is needed, so moves for Dybala and Vlahovic are being discussed internally at Stamford Bridge.

The Independent believe the latter is up for sale at Juventus, although the Serbia international has only been the subject of brief talks amongst those at Chelsea, rather than any serious conversations.

Dybala is described as a more likely arrival, as Pochettino admires his fellow countryman tremendously, and tried to sign him while managing Tottenham.

The 29-year-old also has a release clause worth just £10m in his contract at Roma, so Chelsea could sign him for a bargain sum.

Pochettino is right – Chelsea do need experience in attack

The centre-forward position is arguably the most important in football, and Pochettino is right to want an experienced figure in that area.

Chelsea scored just 38 goals in 38 Premier League games last season – a truly awful record – and someone who knows how to find the back of the net on a regular basis is needed.

Of course, the likes of Jackson, Armando Broja and Christopher Nkunku are full of talent, although none of them strike us as being that prolific No.9 Chelsea fans love to see, such as Didier Drogba or Diego Costa.

Be sure to keep an eye on developments at Chelsea, to see if Pochettino gets his experienced frontman.
