Moises Caicedo is now planning to hold fresh talks with Brighton after they rejected Chelsea’s latest offer for him.
That is according to a report from The Times.
Unfortunately, this summer transfer saga involving Chelsea’s attempts to sign Moises Caicedo continues to drag out.
The Times has explained that Brighton rejected Chelsea’s latest bid worth £80million on Thursday for Caicedo.
It is understood that the Seagulls are standing firm at their asking price of £100million for the highly-rated defensive midfielder.
The report says that Caicedo and his representatives will now seek further discussions with Brighton in an attempt to persuade them to lower the £100m valuation.
In addition, the 21-year-old is growing frustrated with his club’s stance to keep him until a nine-figure sum is paid.
As it stands, it’s unclear on whether Chelsea will submit yet another bid for the Ecuador international or turn their search for a new midfielder elsewhere.
Hopefully, Caicedo can talk some sense into tough negotiators Brighton, who are certainly trying to squeeze every penny out of Chelsea on this deal.
In our view, Caicedo is an all-action youngster with ridiculous potential. If you watched him last season, you’ll know he already looks like one of the most effective midfielders in the Premier League.
However, we think the £80million offer that’s been rejected is a very generous sum on the table. After all, he’s still relatively inexperienced and needs to back it up over several years.
