Chelsea have less than two weeks to wrap up the signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, which does not leave much time.
Simons remains a priority target for Chelsea, but they have not yet managed to strike an agreement with Leipzig for the attacking midfielder’s signature.
Super-agent Ali Barat is working on Simons’ transfer and was spotted at Stamford Bridge before the new season started.
However, there has not been much progress in negotiations since then, which will frustrate the 22-year-old.

Xavi Simons tells family he only wants to join Chelsea
The good news for Chelsea is that they do not have to worry about convincing Simons to join them.
While Manchester City are also interested in Simons, the reliable Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Dutchman has told his family that he only wants to sign for Chelsea this summer.
Sharing an update on The Here We Go Podcast, Romano said: “Xavi Simons has been very clear. There were several opportunities, but I can tell you Xavi only wants to go to Chelsea. Xavi made [that] clear to his family, his agents, all the people close to him several times and also to all the other clubs interested.”
Simons is not the only deal that Chelsea are currently working on. The Blues are also trying to agree a fee with Manchester United to sign Alejandro Garnacho.
According to Romano, Chelsea are holding discussions with United over signing Garnacho as they look to bring in another left winger.
Jamie Gittens started on the left in the Blues’ Premier League opener against Crystal Palace but did not have the best game. He was taken off before the hour mark and replaced by Estevao Willian.

Chelsea make Xavi Simons promise
It could go all the way down to deadline day, but Simons may very well get his Chelsea transfer at some point.
It has been claimed that Chelsea have promised to make an offer for Simons during this transfer window.
Simons is believed to be available for around £60m, a fee that a club like Chelsea can obviously afford. So there is still a great chance of this one happening.
With Simons unlikely to be an automatic starter at Stamford Bridge, though, some will question why the Netherlands international is so desperate to join Enzo Maresca‘s side.
