Reports have suggested that Chelsea are interested in PSG midfielder Idrissa Gueye. The Senegalese midfielder only moved to the French capital from Everton in the summer and seems an unlikely target. Here is why Chelsea should steer clear of the 30-year-old.
Gueye has played in 11 of PSG’s 18 league games this season under Thomas Tuchel. He has performed relatively well and has impressed since his move from Everton. The Merseyside club were not keen for him to make a move as he was a key part of their side, but Champions League football proved too much of a pull.

Now it seems Gueye could be on the move again, but do Chelsea need him? Some fans have already had their say on Twitter.
Chelsea are already blessed in the midfield area. The club has an established midfield trio of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, and Mateo Kovacic. Unless one of them were to seek a move elsewhere, it does not seem likely that Gueye would start regularly in this Chelsea side.
The Senegalese midfielder is also 30-years-old. He is heading towards the twilight of his career and is not getting any younger. Likely, he would not come cheap either. Gueye signed a four-year contract with the Parisiens in July, and the French club would demand a hefty fee for one of their starting midfielders.

The academy prospects already at Chelsea in the central positions are promising. The likes of Billy Gilmour and Tino Anjorin give further evidence why Chelsea need not target the PSG man because he would further limit their first-team opportunities.
