Chelsea are reportedly interested in buying Villarreal defender Pau Torres – and some Blues fans on Twitter are excited about the transfer speculation.

According to 90min, Chelsea are ready to enter the race to try sign Villarreal’s talented centre-back.

It is understood that Thomas Tuchel’s side are currently tracking the 24-year-old because they could end up targeting two signings at centre-half.

The report explains Torres has impressed Chelsea’s scouts, so he’s someone on the Blues radar. In addition, Bayern Munich’s Niklas Sule is another defender that the London club are setting their sights on.

Torres, 24, is someone who’s reputation across Europe grows every month.

The Spain international now has 14 senior caps for his country, which is a reward for the main role he plays for La Liga club Villarreal.

He’s a left-footed centre-back that is a great passer on the ball and strong in possession, with all the traits of a modern day defender.

Chelsea may need reinforcements in their back-three going into next season due to uncertainty over current individuals at Stamford Bridge.

First of all, Thiago Silva has one year left on his deal and is now 37.  Meanwhile, Blues centre-backs Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger are both out of contract at the Bridge at the end of the season.

Fabrizio Romano does claim Christensen is close to a new deal, while negotiations continue with Rudiger about his future.
