Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta hopes that Timo Werner’s imminent arrival can help them to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
Werner is expected to arrive at Stamford Bridge next month as RB Leipzig confirmed that the striker will not play in their Champions League fixture in August.
The 24-year-old has had 32 goals and further 10 assists to his name in all competitions so far and signing a striker of such a calibre could help Chelsea to once again compete for the Premier League glory.
Azpilicueta has highlighted Werner’s experiences across competitions as he believes the striker can push Chelsea to the next stage.
The Blues captain told Sky Sport: “He’s an amazing attacking player with great experience in the Bundesliga where he has scored a lot of goals.
“He has great experience in the Champions League and Germany’s squad at international level.
“He’s a big addition to our club. He can raise our level.”
The Spain international also seems to know exactly what they have to do to bring the best out of his soon-to-be teammate.
“As I said before, he’s an amazing player, we know we have to help him find the best position to score goals and also to adapt to the league as quickly as possible is very important,” he added.
“Hopefully, we can be competing for the top next season.”
