German media outlet SportsChau have heaped praise on Chelsea’s Kai Havertz for his performance at the World Cup last night.
The attacker maintained his status as a big-game player with two goals off the bench to turn around their fortunes against Costa Rica.
Being subbed one with stern instructions while 2-1 down, Havertz’s brace helped them run out 4-2 winners, breaking the hearts of their opponents in the process.

However, it wasn’t enough to keep Germany in the tournament. Spain’s 2-1 loss to Japan saw both of those sides go through.
Despite the embarrassing tournament exit, SportsChau were full of praise for the impact Havertz had off the bench.
They said: “It was completely different with Kai Havertz: The Chelsea striker, who would have deserved a starting XI as well, scored twice after being substituted on and turned the game around on his own. You can not ask for more. top grade.”
Havertz impresses national media
Havertz looked as if he was thriving in a role behind the striker, particularly when Niclas Fullkrug joined him from the bench.
This is certainly a position where has looked strongest for the national team, with him playing more of his football facing the attacking goal.

The unfortunate thing is in terms of his club career is that this role didn’t really exist in Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea system. It’s not showing signs of breaking out under Graham Potter either.
Blues fans will just be hoping that he can build on his final showing in Qatar when club football returns on the 27th of December.
With Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic both impressing during this tournament, the competition for places in the attack is set to be fierce, and it could be a key few weeks as Potter looks to build his squad for the future.
