Filipe Coelho has just showered one Chelsea youngster with huge praise after his recent performance for the club’s Under-21s side.

There was a big change in the Chelsea academy over the summer, with Filipe Coelho appointed as the U21s Blues manager and succeeding Mark Robinson.

Coelho, 39, arrived in west London after an impressive season as Estoril’s U23s head coach last year, winning the Liga Revelacao title in Portugal.

Chelsea’s U21s team has kickstarted the new league campaign with a win, draw, and defeat so far. They did thrash Brentford 6-3 last weekend in the Premier League Cup at Kingsmeadow, though.

Tyrique George stole the headlines with his hat-trick against Brentford. In fact, Chelsea fans reacted to George’s hat-trick for the U21s.

Filipe Coelho hails Tyrique George

Chelsea’s academy boss Coelho has singled out George for massive praise after his U21s masterclass. The 18-year-old winger is certainly a huge talent that fans should be keeping an eye out on.

“Tyrique’s hat-trick was well deserved. He had a great game and showed excellent reactions throughout. I was pleased for him,” Coelho told Chelsea’s official website.

“But I was equally pleased with the team connections and bonds that led to those goals. Tyrique was doing his job by scoring, but when you look closely at the build-up, the team play and the communication that put him in position to score, that impressed me the most.”

Tyrique George on the rise

We don’t think it’ll be too long before George is too good for the academy level, so don’t be surprised if we see more of him around the first-team group.

The English teenager made his senior debut for the Blues last month, coming off the bench in the Conference League qualifying tie against Servette. He caught the eye with a positive cameo, too.

We’re optimistic that George is going to get more opportunities in Chelsea’s various cup competitions during a busy season.
