£50m Chelsea star has a record this season that no other player in Europe’s big five leagues can match

We think most Chelsea fans would agree that Conor Gallagher has been one of the team’s standout players this season.

The Blues are underperforming and striving for better on the pitch, but Conor Gallagher can hold his head high for consistently delivering top performances in recent months.

He’s become a big favourite following the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino into the manager’s dugout in the summer.

It’s quite an achievement that he’s the captain of Chelsea in the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell, too.

There’s an outstanding record that’s now emerged about Gallagher that really epitomises the kind of year he’s enjoying.

OptaJoe posted on X: “Conor Gallagher is the only player in Europe’s big five leagues this season with 20+ shots, 20+ chances created, 20+ dribbles completed, 20+ touches in the opposition box, 20+ duels won, 20+ tackles and 20+ interceptions. Unique.”

That is the definition of an all-action midfielder.

If we’re being greedy we’re a little disappointed by zero goals this season, but Gallagher is bringing so much to the Chelsea XI at a time when others around him are struggling. You know you can bank on him to give 100 per cent effort both on and off the ball.

Brilliant Conor Gallagher

It’s laughable that there’s speculation out there that Chelsea could sell Gallagher when it’s clear to see how important he is to Pochettino’s line-up.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reported via X this week that Chelsea will consider offers for England international Gallagher in January worth between £45-50m.

Meanwhile, journalist Dean Jones has explained via GiveMeSport that Gallagher wants to stay at Stamford Bridge and people close to him still feel that’s the most likely outcome.

Let’s hope the right people are paying attention to Gallagher’s influence on the pitch to ensure he stays for the long-term in West London.
