Ian Wright has claimed that Romelu Lukaku needs to finish his story at Chelsea next season under Mauricio Pochettino.

He told his own podcast that he has heard that the prospective new manager is keen on bringing the 29-year-old back into the fold at Stamford Bridge next season.

Reports have already begun to speculate over which players Pochettino will want at his disposal if he does become the next man in the hotseat as expected.

It has been claimed that a striker is one of the positions the Argentine believes needs addressing, and that has been obvious based on the lack of goals this season.

While they have been linked with big-money deals for the likes of Victor Osimhen this summer, the answer to their woes could be closer to home than they thought.

Lukaku has hit form at the perfect time for Inter Milan this season, after a campaign that has been plagued by injuries.

Wright backs Lukaku for Chelsea

Despite his enjoyment in Italy, there are no guarantees that the Serie A side are going to be able to fund a more permanent deal for the Belgian.

This could see him forced to return to Stamford Bridge, where Wright claims he may relish the challenge of unfinished business.

He said: “The word on the street is that Mauricio Pochettino wants him back.

“He’s got unfinished business here, he’s got massive unfinished business here. If I was him, I would love to know I’m going back there and I can shut a few people up. He’s got to do that. He owes it to himself to try.”

With plenty of money being needed to be spent in other areas this summer, a future for Lukaku could be extremely beneficial for the club.
