Mauricio Pochettino will tonight get another opportunity to assess his players as Chelsea prepare for tonight’s pre-season friendly.

The match against Newcastle United will be their third since travelling to the United States, with them winning both so far.

The manager has utilised a number of different players so far to see who he can rely on when the Premier League campaign comes around.

GK and Defence

Kepa Arrizabalaga will start again and be looking to do a better job than he did when conceding three against Brighton last weekend.

After joining the squad late, Reece James will make his first appearance of pre-season against the Champions League qualifiers.

Next to him in the back four, Trevoh Chalobah will start despite recent reports that the Blues are open to offers for him.

Alongside him, Levi Colwill will look to continue to show Chelsea fans first hand just how good he is.

Ian Maatsen’s impressive pre-season so far will be rewarded with a start in his natural left-back position.

Midfield

After coming off the bench at the weekend, it will be a first start in the middle for record signing Enzo Fernandez.

Next to him, promising youngster Andrey Santos will start for the third consecutive game in America.

Ahead of the duo, Conor Gallagher will fill his more natural attacking midfield role. He has scored in both pre-season games so far.

Attack

Christopher Nkunku will definitely start for the Blues after scoring in both games so far this summer.

He will be joined in attack by Nicolas Jackson, who has perhaps been the surprise star of the campaign so far for Chelsea fans.

Alongside them, Mykhailo Mudryk will be hoping to build on his remarkable performance and goal against Brighton.
