Reports have claimed that at least one Premier League club believes Chelsea have heavily overpaid to sign Mykhailo Mudryk.

According to The Athletic, the unnamed side have used their data model to come to the conclusion that the player moved for far too much money.

Taking just his stats into isolation, many will probably hold a similar opinion when it comes to Mudryk.

He is yet to find the net in a competitive game for the Blues, and this has caused a real issue when it comes to trying to register meaningful minutes.

Instead, he has had to settle for sporadic minutes off the bench, usually up against a side who are defending deep to hold on to their result.

This has led to a very obvious drop in confidence for the youngster, who has come in for heavy criticism in the media.

A lot has been mentioned of the fee that Chelsea paid to sign him. It should be mentioned that if all of the add ons are met, it will be because the club are more than happy with what he has provided.

While he hasn’t lived up to that yet, it does feel as if the ability is waiting to burst out of a player who has been pushing to improve himself ever since he joined.

The Blues were not the only Premier League club who wanted to sign him when he joined back in January. Both Arsenal and Brentford have also been credited with strong interest over the last 12 months.

The Ukraine international has the full backing of former manager and current trendsetter Roberto de Zerbi to succeed, as well as the support of the Stamford Bridge faithful who want him to do well.
