Report: What will happen to Frank Lampard if Mauricio Pochettino is announced Chelsea manager

Reports have claimed that Frank Lampard is still set to remain as interim Chelsea manager until the end of the season.

According to the Evening Standard, the potential announcement of Mauricio Pochettino as the permanent boss is not going to impact the job the Englishman has been brought in to complete at Stamford Bridge.

The managerial race for Graham Potter’s replacement has involved plenty of ups and downs as different candidates have emerged from all over the world.

Originally, the duo of Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique emerged as the frontrunners for the role, with them both currently out of work.

The former Bayern Munich could easily have been interpreted as the favourite for the job after Lampard was originally announced as interim until the end of the campaign.

Lampard to stay till end of season

This is because it was widely expected that the German was looking to wait until the summer before getting back into management, and Stamford Bridge looked to be presenting the perfect opportunity for that.

However, it later emerged that Nagelsmann begun questioning why the recruitment process was taking so long, eventually pulling out of the running for the job in the face of new candidates.

One of these has been Pochettino, who now has a clear path to the job after Enrique links also began to cool.

Reports have already emerged of current Chelsea players he has a plan to work with, and how he intends to make them important first team players.

This includes current loanee Levi Colwill, who is reportedly at the heart of the Argentine’s plans for the defence going forwards.

This will come as great relief to some who will have feared the Englishman may have been on the move in an attempt to find regular first team minutes.
