It has been reported that Manchester United fans made sure to stick the boot in to Chelsea supporters one last time before the night was over yesterday.

Journalist Simon Johnson has claimed on Twitter that supporters were singing the name of Mason Mount as they left the stadium.

Their night already probably couldn’t get any better, after they secured Champions League football with a 4-1 victory against a deflated Blues side.

Chelsea looked as if they can’t wait for the season to end, with the players’ body language a real sign of where they are at this season.

The first half saw them miss three glorious chances through three different players, showing the finishing bug that has plagued the team is not showing signs of easing before the end of the season.

United fans sing about Mount

One player who again didn’t feature for the Blues is Mount. While he has reportedly returned to training, he did not make them journey up north for last night’s game.

He was still on the mind of United fans though, in a week where they’ve made themselves the favourites to sign him this summer.

Reports have stated that Chelsea are becoming resigned to losing him, as he continues to make no progress over a new contract.

This week saw claims that Erik ten Hag individually was a massive fan of the England international, and wanted to bring him in swiftly this summer.

With Mauricio Pochettino set to become the next permanent manager of the club for next season, he could really do with knowing if he will have a player of Mount’s abilities available for him.

There were hopes the Argentine would be able to convince him to stay, but they prove to have been in vein.
