£20m Chelsea player desperately needs to leave in this window after Enzo Maresca’s comments

Enzo Maresca deserves credit for attempting to share the minutes around the squad in the first half of the season, but there are some players that simply need to move on in the January transfer window.

It’s not been an easy job for Enzo Maresca as the Chelsea manager trying to keep so many high-profile stars happy at the same time.

Maresca confirmed this week that Chelsea duo Ben Chilwell and Cesare Casadei won’t play in the FA Cup because there’s a chance that both leave this month. Incidentally, the Blues are hosting League Two club Morecambe on Saturday afternoon.

Carney Chukwuemeka must get out of Chelsea after Enzo Maresca comments

Maresca has added that Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka, 21, is another player that he’ll leave out of the squad to face Morecambe in the FA Cup. Apparently, he’s in a similar boat to Chilwell and Casadei in that a January transfer exit may be on the cards.

“Carney won’t be included [against Morecambe]. More or less the decision is like Ben Chilwell and Cesare Casadei. Cesare, probably Chilwell and Carney, they are the same situation,” Maresca said via BBC Sport.

“It’s something that I said at the beginning that Carney is a good player. But we have so many midfield players that he will struggle to get minutes with us. Probably for him the best solution is to go and get minutes. So he won’t be involved in our game.”

After hearing Maresca’s comments, Chukwuemeka desperately needs to ensure he leaves Chelsea before the January window closes on 3 February. If not, the £20m midfielder (BBC) risks spending the second half of the season watching from the sidelines.

It’s obvious that he’s not too fancied by Blues head coach Maresca. At this vital stage of his career for his development, he needs to be playing regular first-team football.

Chukwuemeka has been told he can leave Chelsea in January, but the later it gets in the window, the more stressed he will become.

Who wants to sign Carney Chukwuemeka?

It’s great news for Chukwuemeka that there’s plenty of clubs tipped to be interested in him. The next step, and the most difficult one, is securing a move, whether that’s on loan or permanently.

Chelsea’s Chukwuemeka is on Borussia Dortmund’s shortlist, so could the youngster make an ambitious move to German football.

In addition, there’s Premier League interest in the Blues fringe player.

West Ham like Chelsea midfield Chukwuemeka, along with his teammate Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Also, Chelsea may off Chukwuemeka to Crystal Palace as part of a deal to sign Marc Guehi.
