Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi is linked with a potential return to Chelsea in 2025, but there’s still a long way to go before any kind of transfer takes place.
Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi, 24, previously came through the Blues academy. Now, the centre-half could end up rejoining his former club.
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca admires Guehi as the transfer talk intensifies during this month’s January transfer window.
Trevoh Chalobah, who’s currently on a season-long loan at Palace from Chelsea, could actually be a crucial part of any deal. There’s already been a transfer report about his potential involvement.
Apparently, Chelsea could use Chalobah in negotiations to sign Guehi in January, but there’s still not been any bid made yet.

Chelsea could offer Carney Chukwuemeka in Marc Guehi discussions
Respected journalist Simon Phillips has claimed via Substack that Palace do have an interest in signing Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka. Therefore, the Blues could look to use Palace’s interest in their 21-year-old midfielder in conversations for Guehi.
Phillips adds that Guehi to Chelsea is only at initial discussions with no official bids on the table yet, but Chukwuemeka could become a factor in a fascinating transfer saga that’s unfolding.
Chukwuemeka has been told he can leave Chelsea after falling down the pecking order, making only five first-team appearances across all competitions so far this season.
If he can be used in a deal to sign Guehi, it makes perfect sense from the club’s perspective. He’s being linked with alternative suitors, though.
Borussia Dortmund are keen on Chukwuemeka from Chelsea in the January window. Furthermore, Napoli enquired about Chelsea midfielder Chukwuemeka, so he could have options to choose from.

Carney Chukwuemeka has been very unfortunate
It’s a no-brainer for Chukwuemeka to move away from Chelsea this month, whether that’s on loan or permanently. The most important thing is that the attacking midfielder gets back to playing regular football as he’s been unlucky with injuries and selection in recent years.
On paper, Chukwuemeka is a remarkable young talent who ticks so many boxes with his athleticism and technical skill. He’s rarely had a look-in under Enzo Maresca’s management, though.
Chukwuemeka has excelled in Chelsea trianing this season by working hard and staying professional, which is why he deserves a move of his choosing.
The competition in the Blues squad is so high that certain players won’t make it and will go on to achieve big things elsewhere. We think there’s every chance Chukwuemeka starts to shine on a football pitch if he plays consistently.
