Chelsea fans would not have been happy with the business that the club did on deadline day.
Facundo Buonanotte, a loan signing from Brighton & Hove Albion (shock), was the only new arrival at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea did not sign a replacement for the injured Liam Delap either, instead opting to recall Marc Guiu from his loan at Sunderland.
Some supporters are likely to be disappointed with the club’s summer as a whole after the failure to bring in a new goalkeeper and central defender. However, Joao Pedro may end up going down as the signing of the season, while the Blues also played a blinder with one exit.

Final Nicolas Jackson deal terrific business
Perhaps some Chelsea fans wanted Nicolas Jackson to remain at Stamford Bridge following Delap’s injury, which appeared to be the plan at one point.
Bayern Munich were keen to sign Jackson on loan with an option to buy and were about to until Chelsea called off the deal at the last minute because of the injury to their English striker.
Bayern, though, were eventually able to resurrect the deal, but only after agreeing to pay the Blues a higher loan fee.
The German giants also had to agree to a conditional obligation clause being included in the loan arrangement. In total, Bayern could end up paying £70m for the 24-year-old if reports are to be believed.
All of the above happened so quickly. In the space of about two days, Chelsea went from agreeing to loan Jackson with an option to buy to practically selling him on their terms.
They forced Bayern into a corner and it worked. If the club do go on to receive £70m for Jackson, that will be sensational business.
The Senegal international is a talented striker with a lot of potential, but he has not done enough to justify a £70m fee. Jackson scored just 10 goals in the Premier League last season and picked up two reckless red cards in all competitions.
Of course, when you take into account the fees that some other strikers have moved for, Chelsea were well within their rights to demand big money for their forward.
In July, it was reported that Chelsea wanted £80m for Jackson after seeing Hugo Ekitike join Liverpool in a £79m transfer.

A disappointing end to Nicolas Jackson’s Chelsea career
If this really is the end of Jackson’s Chelsea career, it is fair to say that it has been a sad conclusion.
Even before all of the transfer chaos, the former Villarreal man was already in a difficult place. To go along with those two red cards he received towards the end of the 2024/25 season, he lost his starting spot at the Club World Cup.
It has also been claimed that Enzo Maresca was beginning to lose trust in Jackson. A move away from west London, then, is probably something everyone needed.
