Enzo Maresca will be feeling immensely proud of his Chelsea players that were crowned the greatest club in the world at the end of a mammoth domestic season.

The Blues ran riot in the first half against Champions League winners PSG, scoring three goals before the break to send them on their way to a dominant win.

Cole Palmer was one of the stars of the show, scoring twice and assisting another for Joao Pedro in an exciting glimpse for what is to come at Stamford Bridge.

Robert Sanchez also played a key role, making a number of huge saves. Even John Obi Mikel had to praise Sanchez for his performance against the Ligue 1 Champions.

Malo Gusto has best performance for Chelsea in Club World Cup win

With every player stepping up to the mark, Malo Gusto deserves immense credit for his performance, starting at right-back as club captain Reece James was named in midfield.

It is fair to say it has not been the best few months for the Frenchman. In fact, Scott Minto pointed out Gusto had actually been really struggling in the Chelsea side.

Just hours before the game, Bayern Munich reportedly enquired about signing Gusto, and there will have been a part of the club that was considering cashing in on the £30m signing.

Given the enviable task of dealing with winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, as well as high-flying Nuno Mendes, the Frenchman got the better of both players and worked brilliantly with Palmer down Chelsea’s right.

Palmer said that this was the gameplan laid out by Maresca before the game, and it worked to perfection for the Blues.

Gusto was on hand to provide the assist for Palmer’s first goal of the game, and his stats in attack are equally as impressive as defensively.

With it looking as if Maresca prefers to use James in the middle of the park, there is an opportunity for Gusto to become a regular in the side for years to come, and he went the right way about taking that chance against PSG.

He will continue to be kept on his toes by Josh Acheampong, however he could be set for a move away in order to get more regular game time in the 2025/26 season.

Crystal Palace want Acheampong on loan, and assuming he is a starter for them that looks a very positive move that the youngster can make.
