Reports broke last night that Chelsea are preparing to do talks with Bayern Munich over a number of deals going both ways.

It has emerged that Christopher Nkunku has agreed to terms to move to the Bundesliga giants, with him clearly not in the starting plans at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

Despite being the club’s joint top scorer in all competitions, he has been unable to displace Nicolas Jackson from the starting side.

It has been reported that Mathys Tel is on Chelsea’s shortlist for a possible swap deal, with the club holding a long-standing interest in signing the impressive attacker.

Chelsea should be trying to sign Alphonso Davies rather than Mathys Tel

The youngster is not the only Bayern player the Blues have been linked with in the past, and it feels like Chelsea could do better when it comes to choosing a player to come the other way in exchange for Nkunku.

Chelsea have held a strong interest in signing Alphonso Davies in the past, a player who has not been afraid to share his admiration for the Blues in the past.

Davies is still no closer to signing a new contract with Bayern, with that deal set to expire in 18 months’ time.

There should absolutely be an effort made to sign the Canadian international after reports surrounding their own left-backs have begun to dominate the January transfer window.

Chelsea set to lose Renato Veiga

It has been reported that current Chelsea star Renato Veiga is pushing for a move away from Stamford Bridge this month, with him looking for more minutes as a centre-back rather than left-back.

Veiga has agreed to a deal to join Borussia Dortmund, with Chelsea preferring a permanent sale rather than the more likely loan deal.

If Chelsea are to sign a new left-back, it feels as if one who is a different profile to Marc Cucurella, and Davies’ attacking capabilities certainly separate him from the Spaniard.

A number of top clubs are reportedly interested in Davies, however Chelsea should be putting themselves at the top of that conversation.
