Chelsea attacker must take the handbrake off tonight at Old Trafford, he’s only had six shots all season

Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk is an individual playing with the handbrake on right now.

In our view, Mykhalio Mudryk needs to step on the Old Trafford pitch later tonight and take far more risks against Manchester United.

The Blues are playing away at Man United on Wednesday night in the Premier League.

Hopefully, Mauricio Pochettino’s side can record back-to-back league wins for just the second time this campaign.

Message for Chelsea attacker

We’re urging Mudryk to have a lot more confidence in his game and to be a lot more direct in midweek.

The 22-year-old attacker has the physical attributes that opposition defenders hate, which is blistering pace and a low centre of gravity.

There’s glimpses when he gets supporters off their seats with a passage of play. Unfortunately, he too often takes the safe option.

It would be great to see the Ukraine international get another start at Man United, but he needs to contribute more to prove he belongs in this XI.

It’s all about him playing off his instincts and being brave on the ball.

Mykhailo Mudryk needs to shoot more

There’s a pretty damning statistic that backs up what we see on the eye test, which is that Mudryk isn’t involved anywhere near enough as a goal threat.

BBC records data that Mudryk has only managed a total of six shots in 13 appearances across all competitions this season.

He’s contributed just the two goals so far this campaign, and a lack of attempts has to be one of the biggest reasons.

We’re desperate to see him be a tiny bit more selfish around the final third.

Journalist Ben Jacobs recently claimed via Substack that Pochettino has been spending one-on-one time with Mudryk to help his game. Let’s hope the topic of taking more shots in games came up.

Blues centre-back Axel Disasi has attempted more shots than Mudryk this season (seven), which doesn’t make for pretty reading.
