Chelsea could have saved disastrous transfer window by signing ‘dangerous’ forward, he’s now set to join another club

This has definitely been one of the more boring transfer windows at Chelsea since Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali took over.

With just today and tomorrow remaining in the January transfer window, Chelsea have not signed anyone.

They are still being linked with attackers ahead of Monday’s deadline. For example, Enzo Maresca wants Chelsea to bring in Alejandro Garnacho.

Really, though, it is one of his Manchester United teammates that the Blues should have been looking at.

Chelsea should have signed Marcus Rashford

Chelsea are arguably in need of a new left winger and striker, two positions that Marcus Rashford can cover.

Mykhailo Mudryk is suspended, while Nicolas Jackson has had a huge dip in form. The 23-year-old has not scored in any of his last seven Premier League games.

This season and last term, Rashford has not been at his best. For example, the forward has only managed to bag four goals in the top flight in the current campaign.

However, everyone knows what Rashford can do when he is on it. The England international can hurt teams with his pace, especially on the counter, and is a capable finisher. In his first season under Erik ten Hag, he scored an impressive 30 goals in 56 games.

Rashford is 27 as well now. He could have brought some much-needed experience to Maresca‘s young Chelsea squad. Instead, the United man will be offering it to Aston Villa as he closes in on a move there.

With Rashford and Marco Asensio both set to join Villa, it is now unlikely that they will sign Felix. Felix was of interest to Villa, but that interest has probably cooled now.

Barcelona legend hailed Marcus Rashford as ‘very dangerous’ player

That 2022/23 season that Rashford had was truly a rememberable one for him, and it saw the England star come in for praise from Barcelona legend Xavi.

Speaking to Sky Sports and other outlets before Barcelona’s Europa League clash against United in 2023, Xavi said: “In the transition he is very, very dangerous so, yes, we need to take care of all of them but especially Rashford.

“He’s one of the most dangerous players now in Europe, yeah. He’s very fast, he has a very good at dribbling in one-versus-one.”

Chelsea recalled Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Crystal Palace to address their centre-back issue. Other than that, the club have not fixed the problems currently in their squad, making this a very poor transfer window. Had they signed Rashford, it would have been a completely different story.
