To say that some of Chelsea’s signings under Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have not worked out would be an understatement.
Chelsea have spent big on Mykhailo Mudryk, for example, and the winger has simply failed to deliver.
With Mudryk currently suspended, the Blues could sign a new wide man in the summer. Chelsea have been linked with Rafael Leao and other left wingers ahead of the transfer window.
Some of their cheaper signings have also flopped, though, including Robert Sanchez, who joined the club from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2023.

Chelsea fans will want Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali to offload Robert Sanchez
Sanchez is not the worst goalkeeper in the Premier League. He has some really good attributes, namely his shot stopping.
This season, the 27-year-old has recorded a save percentage of 76.3%, which is the second highest in the division, as per FBref.
However, Sanchez has made too many mistakes in the current campaign — five of them have led to goals.
| Rank | Goalkeeper | Errors leading to goal |
| 1. | Arijanet Muric | 5 |
| = | Robert Sanchez | 5 |
| 3. | Bart Verbruggen | 4 |
| 4. | Andre Onana | 3 |
| 5. | Alex McCarthy | 2 |
It is driving Chelsea fans crazy and making those at Stamford Bridge so nervy when he is on the ball. If Boehly and Eghbali got rid of the Spaniard this summer and replaced him with someone else, most supporters would probably be quite happy.
Sanchez was not a huge investment for the club. He cost them just £25m and his wages at Chelsea are £60,000 a week.
Before signing Sanchez, Chelsea looked at Matz Sels, who was at sister club Strasbourg at the time. However, they opted for the Spain international instead, while Sels eventually went on to join Nottingham Forest, where he is currently thriving. The 33-year-old has kept 11 clean sheets in the Premier League this season, more than any other goalkeeper.

Chelsea could sell Robert Sanchez this summer
Enzo Maresca has often backed Sanchez this season despite all of his mistakes. But having lost his spot in the team, it now looks like Chelsea could sell him.
On his Substack Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that the Blues would be prepared to sell both Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic in the summer for the right price.
Chelsea have not treated Petrovic fairly; the Serbian probably deserves at least one more chance at Stamford Bridge. But at this stage, Sanchez has certainly had enough.
