Chelsea have a £70m+ decision to make next summer as links to two young stars persist

Despite the number and quality of attackers in this Chelsea side, it does seem like they will be dipping into the market again next summer.

Chelsea’s approach in the transfer market is aggression and opportunism. They seldom rest on their laurels when it comes to recruiting top talent.

Enzo Maresca has plenty of wide options in his squad. This summer, arrivals like Alejandro Garnacho, Jamie Gittens and Estevao Willian have made competition for minutes fierce.

Along with Pedro Neto, Maresca has a litany of options to deploy in the wide areas. They are all young and have potential to get better, but that isn’t stopping the club from looking at a couple of top talents to bring in next summer.

Michael Olise and Kenan Yildiz on Chelsea’s radar

You can always improve, and that’s the philosophy the Blues appear to be living by, as they have been linked to two of the best young talents in Europe.

Michael Olise could be available for £87 million next summer if Bayern fail to extend him. The Frenchman is a Premier League-proven creator and goalscorer who has lit up the Bundesliga since leaving Crystal Palace.

20-year-old Kenan Yildiz is another phenomenal youngster who Chelsea have a long-standing interest in, as Fabrizio Romano has discussed in a recent YouTube video.

He says: “Chelsea has always been very interested, and the Premier League’s interest remains because Yildiz is a fantastic player, so it’s normal to see the big clubs paying attention.”

As you would expect, both Bayern and Juventus are desperate to hold onto their young stars, and will be working on an extension to stave off Premier League interest.

On Yildiz, Romano explains: “I believe Juve want to avoid finding themselves in a situation where Yildiz could receive a very significant offer from abroad and say, ‘OK, but my salary is low, I’d rather go somewhere else.’”

Bayern Sporting Director Max Eberl has similar intentions with Olise.

Of course, when you are looking to sign this level of talent, the selling club is rarely eager to comply.

Chelsea could sign Yildiz or Olise, but not both

The fees we would be talking about in a potential move for either winger are at the top end. Olise’s valuation of £87 million is about right, and Yildiz wouldn’t be much cheaper. Minimum £70 million.

Without even discussing the current Chelsea wide players, of whom at least one will need to be sold, the Blues have the capacity to go for max. one of the two.

Yildiz is a killer in front of goal, a powerful runner and a technical beast. He operates mainly off the left but is comfortable playing across the attack.

He would no doubt be a brilliant signing, but if it’s a toss-up between him and Olise, there’s only one correct choice.

Outside of the fact that Olise has already shown he can thrive in England, he’s just further along in his development and would instantly become one of Chelsea’s best players. Including the Club World Cup, Olise managed 40 goal involvements last season. 20 goals. 20 assists. That’s compared to 19 from Yildiz.

Chelsea have a problem when Cole Palmer doesn’t play. The creativity falls off a cliff. But Olise is one of the best creators in Europe already, and he’s still only 23.

He may be the more expensive option, but he would be worth every penny.

Now, if Olise isn’t available, but Yildiz is, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a Chelsea fan who would say no to the Turk’s arrival. Signing either would be a coup and would perhaps solve the problems that currently arise when Palmer isn’t on the pitch.
