Chelsea signed Liam Delap from Ipswich Town exactly a year ago, but the forward’s future is already in doubt.
After a disappointing season in which Delap only managed to score one Premier League goal, Chelsea could now offload him.
It is being reported that Chelsea are ready to sell Delap, who could be replaced by someone who has played for a top English club before.
Nicolas Jackson or Liam Delap, which one are you keeping? Tell us who and why!
Chelsea should give Liam Delap more time instead of signing Darwin Nunez
Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Darwin Nunez, but like Delap, he has also had his struggles in the Premier League.
In his final season at Liverpool, the 26-year-old scored just five goals in 30 outings. Chelsea would be better off giving Delap another shot.
Back in the 2024/25 campaign, Delap scored 12 Premier League goals, bettering Nunez’s best-ever tally of 11.

He is younger than the Al-Hilal man and has plenty of time to improve. Whether Delap gets that at Chelsea remains to be seen, but it is clear that Nunez is not going to be a huge upgrade on the Englishman if one at all.
Understandably, Chelsea fans are not sold on Delap. But you suspect a lot of them would rather keep him than sign Nunez.
Liam Delap wants another opportunity
Even if Chelsea do not sign Nunez, everything is pointing towards Delap leaving this summer. They still have Joao Pedro and Emanuel Emegha and could sign another striker.
There is also a possibility of Nicolas Jackson remaining with the first-team squad following his loan spell at Bayern Munich.
However, Delap seems determined to fight for his place. According to BBC Sport, the England Under-21 international wants to stay at Stamford Bridge for at least another season and prove his doubters wrong.
This level is absolutely ruthless, though. After a very bad year, Delap may not be afforded any more time and could find himself being replaced by Nunez, Jackson or someone else.
