Joe Cole would like to see his former club Chelsea raid their Premier League rivals Manchester United for one of their players in the transfer window.

Chelsea are working on signing four targets and one is thought to be an attacker who is versatile.

Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers is believed to be the man in question, but there is another England forward Cole wants the Blues to look at.

Joe Cole urges Chelsea to make Marcus Rashford move

Marcus Rashford does not appear to be in United’s plans, while Barcelona are yet to agree a permanent deal with the Red Devils to sign the 28-year-old despite his successful loan spell.

It gives Chelsea or any other top club an opportunity to sign Rashford, and Cole believes his old side should take it if the finances work.

Speaking to The Sun, the retired attacker said: “It’s just a matter of the wages and the valuation. Rashford ticks a lot of boxes, but you don’t want to spend a fortune on him — he’d do a good job for Chelsea.

“He needs to keep going, Marcus; he needs to keep his confidence up because he rebuilt himself at Barcelona, and there’s still another level for him to jump to. He’s someone Chelsea should inquire about, but it’ll depend on the deal.”

Rashford scored eight goals and provided seven assists in 32 La Liga games last season. The England international also netted five times and set up his teammates on three occasions in 11 Champions League outings.

Right now, Rogers looks way more likely than Rashford. Chelsea appreciate three of Rogers’ attributes and think he is ideal for their project.

Marcus Rashford is just what Chelsea are looking for

It has been widely reported that Chelsea want to sign players with more experience. Rashford ticks that box; he is 28 now and has made nearly 300 appearances in the Premier League.

The Blues are looking for a versatile attacker, and Rashford is just that thanks to his ability to play on the left or up top.

He would be a huge upgrade on his former teammate Alejandro Garnacho, who scored just one goal in the Premier League last season.

Finding the back of the net has rarely been a problem for Rashford in his career, with the England international scoring 138 goals for United. At Barcelona, he managed to convert 14 times.

Rashford is fast, direct, versatile, experienced and can score goals. That is everything Chelsea are looking for in the transfer market right now.

If there is a chance to recruit Rashford this summer, it is a no-brainer.
