Liverpool’s visit to Stamford Bridge is Enzo Maresca’s biggest test of the season so far.
Chelsea will be looking to break a three-game winless run in the Premier League.
Last year’s champions flew out of the gates to start the season, winning their first five games and taking a comfortable lead at the top of the table. But the last week has seen them defeated twice, and Chelsea will want to keep that trend going on Saturday evening.

They are facing a Liverpool side that has changed significantly over the summer, no change bigger than the addition of Alexander Isak. And Chelsea are sure to have brought his name up in preparation for the tie.
Alexander Isak loves a trip to Stamford Bridge
Isak’s name dominated the summer transfer window, but it started to look obvious by the final weeks that he would be joining Liverpool.
He was one of the two best strikers in the league last season, alongside Erling Haaland, and Chelsea got to experience his clinical nature first-hand.

As the BBC reports, Isak has scored in each of his last two trips to Stamford Bridge, although Chelsea emerged victorious on both occasions. He has four goals in total against the Blues after six games, and if he gets the nod on Saturday evening, he will be hungry to add to the tally.
Liverpool have so many dangerous attackers in their squad now, especially after a summer spree that saw them break the British transfer record twice. Chelsea’s defence will need to be locked in.
Chelsea vs Liverpool is usually a tight contest
Despite Liverpool being further along in terms of their project, recent meetings between the sides have been close more often than not.
There was a seven-game streak of draws between the sides, two of which were won by Liverpool on penalties in cup competition.
Since then, it has been three wins to Liverpool and one to Chelsea, which came at the end of last season, also at the Bridge.
Chelsea’s home record against the Reds is superior to most, and it hints that this game could go either way.
