Chelsea have tried to sign a top striker during this transfer window but have not been unable to so far.
Back in June, there was lots of talk about Chelsea being interested in Benjamin Sesko, for example. But the 21-year-old ended up signing a new contract at RB Leipzig and staying there.
Sesko recently shared why he decided not to depart Leipzig, explaining that it was best for his development.
It makes perfect sense but has left Chelsea needing to look elsewhere in their striker search. Having no success yet, though, it could be time for Enzo Maresca and the club to give serious consideration to utilising an option that they already possess.

Chelsea could be stuck with Romelu Lukaku
In an ideal world for Chelsea, Romelu Lukaku leaves the club permanently this summer and they get a decent fee for him.
They will not want to keep an unhappy player, who is on huge wages, at Stamford Bridge for any longer.
However, now into August, and Chelsea have just not been able to shift him. In fact, it is now being claimed that Lukaku could end up staying at Chelsea.
Neither party will want that, but if it does happen, perhaps it would be worth the Blues reintegrating Lukaku into the first team.
Enzo Maresca should consider making Romelu Lukaku a key player
If centre-forward really is Chelsea’s biggest problem and Lukaku remains in west London, then the 31-year-old could easily fix it.
Lukaku is obviously Premier League-proven and remains a top centre-forward, scoring 21 goals in all competitions for AS Roma last season.
He is not the most popular person in west London and clearly wants out of Chelsea, but if he cannot get a move and the Blues fail to sign another striker, then they may as well utilise an asset that cost them almost £100m.
Chelsea only want around £30m for Lukaku, so you would still expect him to depart the club at some point. But if not, Maresca may as well utilise the Belgium international and make him key. A focused and in-form Lukaku could fire the club back into the top four without question.
