The fee Napoli want Chelsea to offer as well as Romelu Lukaku for Victor Osimhen

Chelsea and Napoli have been in discussions about a deal that would see Romelu Lukaku and Victor Osimhen swap clubs.

Napoli really want Romelu Lukaku in their ranks, while Chelsea have been trying to sign a striker all summer, making Victor Osimhen a very attractive proposition for them.

The Blues have managed to bring in Marc Guiu, who is currently making an impact in their pre-season tour.

Guiu scored in Chelsea’s 3-0 win against Club America in the early hours of Thursday morning, so the 18-year-old is showing his potential right now.

But the Blues may still want a more experienced centre-forward in their squad for the 2024/25 season.

How much Chelsea may need to pay to sign Victor Osimhen

Offering Lukaku alone will not be enough to get Osimhen out of the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium this summer.

That is hardly a surprise, as Napoli handed the 25-year-old a new contract with a reported £110m release clause in it last December.

According to 90min, as well as handing the Italian club Lukaku, Chelsea will also need to offer a £60m fee to land Osimhen.

With Lukaku looking for a way out of Stamford Bridge and Chelsea still in the market for a new striker, it does not sound like a bad deal for the Blues.

Is Victor Osimhen coming to Chelsea?

There is no doubt that plenty of Chelsea fans would love to see Osimhen leave Naples for west London.

The Nigerian is one of the best strikers in the world. His numbers last season were not as good as his figures from the 2022/23 campaign, but he still managed to score 17 goals in 32 outings for Napoli.

It is too early to say, though, whether Osimhen is actually going to join Chelsea this summer. Osimhen isn’t against the idea of signing for Chelsea, despite the Blues being without Champions League football.

But swap deals are so complicated; there are too many moving parts. Honestly, as logical as it would be for both Chelsea and Napoli, it is hard to imagine an Osimhen-Lukaku swap deal actually materialising.

If that is the only kind of deal Chelsea are willing to do this summer, chances are Osimhen will not be going to Stamford Bridge.
