Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has some big decisions to make when it comes to his side to take on Liverpool at the weekend.

A plethora of Blues are off representing their nations on international duty, with a number of them making a claim to the manager to feature more frequently upon their return.

Christopher Nkunku carried on his impressive start to the campaign in front of goal with a fine strike on his return to the France setup.

There have also been strong performances from the likes of Mykhialo Mudryk, putting plenty of questions in the mind of Maresca coming into the trip to Anfield.

Chelsea will again have both their top central midfielders returning to training late, after Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo won’t be done with action until the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Enzo Maresca should start Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall vs Liverpool

For this reason, the manager should look to hand Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall his first Premier League start for Chelsea in the middle of the park.

The Englishman has been working with those who were not picked for international duty for the last week already, meaning he is likely getting closer instructions and training from Maresca than before.

Dewsbury-Hall excelled in his last outing in the Conference League against Gent, with him also opening his account for the club in the process.

Maresca has close relationship with Dewsbury-Hall

The joy on Maresca’s face when he found the net was a big indicator into the relationship the two have, with it being clear that he was signed in the first place to have someone in the side who understood what the manager was trying to do.

He has yet to really get his chance to show this, but it feels as if he would be the best possible replacement for what is likely to be an exhausted Fernandez.

Romeo Lavia is also seemingly back at full fitness, but the club would do well not to rush him back after he hasn’t started since the first game of the campaign.
