Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca should shut down the club’s reported transfer idea and insist they do something else in the January transfer window.
Enzo Maresca is in charge of a talented Chelsea squad right now. However, the addition of one or two new faces in the mid-season window to boost a struggling team would definitely help. The Blues have just one win in their last seven Premier League games as they go through a significant dip.
Chelsea boss Maresca wanted to strengthen in three positions this month, but time is running out to complete any last-minute deals.

Chelsea’s transfer idea that Enzo Maresca should shut down
According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are still assessing potential midfield signings before the January transfer window shuts on 3 February.
With Romeo Lavia currently unavailable through injury, sources claim that the Blues are not ruling out a move to sign a No.6 midfielder before the transfer deadline.
As it stands, Chelsea do look a bit light in the centre of the park. The injury to Lavia leaves them with Moises Caicedo, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Enzo Fernandez as the main options in central midfield.
Renato Veiga has completed his move to Juventus on loan. Meanwhile, Serie A clubs are battling to sign Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei.
Despite the need for a midfield reinforcement, we think there’s a smarter way than spending on a brand new signing.

Blues can save millions if they repeat Trevoh Chalobah trick
We’ve already seen Chelsea recall Trevoh Chalobah this month early from a season-long loan at Crystal Palace. In fairness, the decision looks justified because he’s started back-to-back games for the Blues since returning, looking impressive at centre-back in both matches.
Now, Maresca should stress to the club to consider recalling Andrey Santos or Lesley Ugochukwu rather than signing a new No.6 midfielder.
It’ll save Chelsea millions if they recall an existing loanee rather than splash the cash on a new midfielder. Plus, Santos and Ugochukwu are both excellent options in their own right. We think it would be much easier and sensible for one of them to come back to Stamford Bridge for the second half of the season.
Southampton have been worried that Chelsea could recall Ugochukwu, but there’s now only a few days left to do just that.
The 20-year-old defensive midfielder is an out-and-out No.6 that could provide extra depth for the Blues. A deep run in cup competitions could lead to decent first-team minutes, too.
As for Santos, 20, he’s been sensational so far this season during his loan with Strasbourg. The all-action central midfielder looks good enough right now to push for a spot in the Blues team, so there’s a lot of logic to bringing him back early.
Santos is earmarked in Chelsea’s plans for next season, but there’s an argument to saying they need him this campaign.
