How much Chelsea could now sign Mike Maignan for, Todd Boehly surely has to sanction a move

Chelsea could sign a new goalkeeper this summer, with AC Milan’s Mike Maignan one option for them.

Chelsea have enquired about Maignan as the Blues weigh up replacing Robert Sanchez, who has not convinced this season.

Filip Jorgensen could also join Strasbourg following his own struggles at Stamford Bridge, so there really could be some changes in the goalkeeper department.

And it may not actually take that much for Chelsea to bring Maignan to west London ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Chelsea could sign Mike Maignan for less than £35m

Maignan is one of Milan’s best players, but his contract expires next year. It means the Italian club could be forced to sell him at a cut-price this summer.

In fact, according to TEAMtalk, Maignan could be available for just £34.4m when the transfer window opens.

The 29-year-old is not the only goalkeeper that Chelsea are looking at, though. Chelsea are also interested in Diogo Costa.

However, Costa wants to join Manchester City, so the Blues may have to focus on signing Maignan instead if they are not already.

Whatever the case, things are not looking good for Sanchez. If either shot-stopper comes in, then the Spaniard is going to have to settle for the bench.

Sanchez will be disappointed, but he has had his chance as No.1 and has failed to convince anyone.

Todd Boehly has to sanction Mike Maignan move

For £34m, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have to give the go ahead for Maignan to be signed. The Frenchman is one of the top keepers in the world and appears to be available for very little.

Milan and Maignan have not been at their best this season, but the former Lille star put up some very good numbers last term.

For example, Maignan recorded a save percentage of 77.5% in Serie A. His save percentage back in the 2021/22 campaign was also phenomenal, with it being over 80%.

If Maignan moves elsewhere for £34m and Chelsea do not sign Costa, a lot of Blues supporters are going to be disappointed.
