Mauricio Pochettino has just fallen under more pressure at Chelsea after developments today

There is nothing to suggest that Mauricio Pochettino is close to the sack at Chelsea.

However, you would be crazy to think that Mauricio Pochettino‘s job is completely safe right now.

Todd Boehly and Co have been ruthless since taking over Chelsea, already sacking both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, and Pochettino is not exactly having a great season in the dugout. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, his work will be reviewed at the end of the campaign, so the Argentine is under pressure.

And with Jose Mourinho being sacked by AS Roma earlier today, that pressure could be about to increase.

One reason why there probably has not been more talk about Pochettino being dismissed is because of a lack of options to replace him.

Mourinho’s availability, however, could change things a little bit. Chelsea are just about in the top 10 in the Premier League right now, which is really not good enough.

If they drop out of it, it would perhaps become tempting to get rid of Pochettino and bring in Mourinho. The Blues’ squad is too good for the club to be that low in the table.

Mourinho obviously ticks a lot of boxes. He has managed in the Premier League before, won there and is a big name. And according to journalist Simon Phillips, the 60-year-old would be open to a third spell at Stamford Bridge.

Should Chelsea consider sacking Mauricio Pochettino?

Mourinho’s availability does not necessarily mean Chelsea should become more open to the idea of getting rid of Pochettino, though.

The former Real Madrid manager has been away from the Premier League for a while now and his last three jobs there were all cut short after he was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Ultimately, Pochettino should probably get until the end of the season, especially after all of the injuries he has had to contend with this term. Who knows where the Blues would be right now if the likes of Reece James and Christopher Nkunku could stay fit?
