Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez both make top five for very worrying statistic, it’s no wonder Chelsea aren’t winning games

Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez are two of the best players in Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea squad.

Nicolas Jackson is actually Chelsea‘s second top scorer in the Premier League behind Cole Palmer with nine goals.

As for Enzo Fernandez, he is only behind Jackson and Palmer when it comes to assists, managing to register four this season. In the Blues’ last win, a 2-1 victory over West Ham United, Gary Neville thought that Fernandez was quite dangerous.

However, in this second part of the campaign, Fernandez and Jackson have been nowhere near as threatening as they were in the first half, while the latter is now out injured.

Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez both taking shots but not scoring

Jackson and Fernandez have been firing away, but the Chelsea duo have struggled to find the back of the net of late.

According to WhoScored, since Christmas, Jackson has taken 19 shots without scoring, while Fernandez has recorded 11.

In that time, no player has been more wasteful than Jackson, while only the Senegal international, Mohammed Kudus, Alejandro Garnacho and Julio Enciso have taken more shots without scoring than Fernandez.

Jackson is Chelsea’s first-choice striker and Fernandez is given so much freedom to get forward and be an extra man in and around the box. It is no surprise, then, that the Blues are struggling to win games at the moment.

Since the start of the year, Chelsea have won just two of their Premier League fixtures.

Still, despite his lack of form, Chelsea look worse without Jackson and do not have a recognised centre-forward to replace him with following Marc Guiu’s own injury.

Chelsea target Alejandro Garnacho has also been wasteful

Chelsea wanted to sign Manchester United winger Garnacho during the January transfer window, and it would not be a shock if they revisited things in the summer.

Mykhailo Mudryk is still suspended and no one has any idea whether he will be available next season.

It is believed that Chelsea considered a deadline day deal for Garnacho, making him a potential replacement for Mudryk.

But with Garnacho having been wasteful himself at times this term, some Chelsea supporters will not want the 20-year-old anywhere near Stamford Bridge.

He has taken 18 shots since Christmas without scoring, one fewer than Jackson, and missed a really big chance against Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday. Chelsea fans could not believe how bad Garnacho’s shot was as United went on to lose the game 1-0.
